Baños

Baños, the adventurer’s city

A few travellers we met recommended us to go to Baños, famous for adventurous activities available: zipline, bungee jumping, rafting, canyoning, etc. We arrived on a Saturday night without any hotel booked. Big mistake! It was the weekend before holly week therefore we spent an hour to eventually find a pretty bad and expensive hostel…

We did two nice hikes. The first one brought us to Los Ojos del Volcan lookout where we had a great view on Tungurahua active volcano. On the way, we nearly got eaten alive by a huge dog but thankfully nothing happened!

The second hike is one of the most known in Baños. It brought us to La Casa del Arbol, at 2600m high. The place is really nice. Of course, we did the swing and it is scarier than it looks.

On Tuesday, we rented bikes to ride along the waterfall’s road. During 20 km down, we saw around 8 waterfalls, beautiful. Two of them were amazing! El Pailon Del Diablo is the most impressive one, the stream was so strong and we could walk very close to it. We were completely wet! The second one is Machay. We reached the waterfall after 10 min walk. There was no one and we could refresh our feet in the pools.
