Coast from Muscat to Ras Al Hadd

We scheduled this trip 2 months ago when we were wondering where we could spend the last week before Christmas in France. We didn’t plan much but apparently landscapes are nice so let’s do it!

What a surprise! When leaving Muscat the capital city, with our rental car, we started to see mountains around at sunset, beautiful. It looks like we are going to have nice holidays!

We drove kilometers listening Arabic music and discovering incredible landscapes. Because we didn’t plan too much, we didn’t watch pictures of Oman that’s why we were super excited like kids and didn’t expect such a beautiful scenery.

After camping in the middle of nowhere, we took the coastal road heading to South. We stopped at Fins White Beach, à white sand beach with turquoise water. And only 2 people are here, awesome!

We then drove to wadi Shab. There are a lot of wadi in Oman. It is like gorges in the middle of the desert.
After reaching the wadi Shab, we took a small boat to go to the other bank. From there, we walked 45 minutes to the water.
We swam upstream until a small cave with a cascade. To access it, we swam with space only for the head, Waow!

The next day, we went to wadi Tiwi, where we needed a 4wd. We met with a lovely French couple who brought us there. Natural pools with crystal clear water and no one around, this is the wadi Tiwi!
We then spent the afternoon in Sur, a nice town on the coast. Some Omani men offered us some coffee and dates and we had a chat. We have to say that locals are extremely friendly, always offering help.
We spent the night camping on Ras Al Hadd beach where there are some pink glowing corals, unforgettable!

Our first days in Oman definitely exceeded our expectations with various and stunning landscapes.
