After 2 days traveling by bus, we arrived tired in San Gil, north of Bogota.
We were welcomed at the hostel Macondo which has nice outdoor areas and even a jacuzzi! The weather is beautiful, we are going to love it!
The first day, we went to natural pools, a good way to freshen up. We took a bus for 20 min then walked 45 min to reach the river. There were so many pools, some of them even had sand like a beach. We loved this day so much, with no tourist around.
The following day, we experienced a unique activity: paragliding. It was the first time for both of us. We chose to do it over the second longest canyon in the world: the Chicamocha. I was very nervous arriving there but once in the sky, the view was breathtaking. Unbelievable!
Finally, we went to Barichara, the most beautiful village in Colombia. We were not disappointed; streets and white houses are lovely. We walked until Guane, another nice village. It was where we tried the local food, the “big ass aunts” as they call it. It was crispy and salty, not too bad.
San Gil was a destination we liked very much. The region is beautiful and there are so much activities around.
